Step 1
Stand up on your pedals, keeping your weight balanced, with one foot in front of the other. When you keep your weight balanced, and you're out of the saddle of you bike, you have greater control over your bike. This is one way to position a bike for trail riding.
-
Step 2
Stay up out of your saddle and behind it when you are descending a hill as you position bike for trail riding. By staying behind the saddle of the bike when descending, it helps to keep you from tumbling over your handlebars.
-
Step 3
Do the opposite when you position the bike as you're ascending a hill. Stay a little in front of the saddle when you stand up on your pedals, staying as balanced as possible. Bend your elbows and knees, staying as low over the bike as you can.
-
Step 4
Keep the back wheel from spinning and your front wheel from rising up as you position the bike for trail riding. Try to stay as relaxed as possible and try not to grasp the handlebars too tightly.
-
Step 5
Be safe. Trail riding on a bike can be dangerous of you aren't careful. Always wear your helmet, and never ride beyond your ability.
