How to Memorize Long Text in a Short Time

Whether you are a budding actor, a student or boning up for a big presentation, you may find a time when you must memorize a long text in a short amount of time. It may seem impossible, but instead of feeling overwhelmed, approach the task the right way and it can be manageable.

Instructions

1. Read over the text two to three times before you begin trying to memorize any large text. You can do this in a short amount of time, and it helps to acquaint yourself with the pattern and flow of the piece first.

2. Break the long text into chunks. It is impossible to memorize the entire large text at once. You have to break it up into small pieces, and memorize these one by one in a short period of time.

3. Number these bits and keep them in order. Attacking any large task is easier when you are organized. And, because of the way the mind remembers numbers and words, it may help you be aware of which chunk you are on when you need to retrieve the information.

4. Begin with reading the text out loud. When you must memorize a large text in a short period of time, it is a good idea to take in the information both through the ears and the eyes.

5. Go over each section a few times as you begin memorizing each chunk of information. Once you have a section down, you can move on to the next section.

6. Repeat the previous sections as you move along. When you memorize a large text in a short amount of time, you have to keep them planted in your mind in order. Memorizing them together, and repeating them out loud to yourself as you have them down and move on, can help you attack the project with a bit more ease.
