Making incense burners out of glass SoBe bottles is a great way to make something cool from an everyday item. Homemade items make great gifts and unique home decorating accents. When choosing a SoBe bottle to make an incense bottle burner, look for glass bottles with pre-made indentations, such as the SoBe tea bottles. Here is how to make an incense burner out of a SoBe bottle.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • SoBe bottle
  • Diamond drill bit
  • Drill
  • Clothespin
  • Incense
  1. Step 1

Find someone to hold the SoBe bottle for you. You can also simply secure it with a bench mounted vice instead if you prefer.

  2. Step 2

Spray the bottom of the bottle with water to lubricate it before you begin drilling. When working with glass, it's important that the glass remain damp to help cool and lubricate the tip of the drill bit.

  3. Step 3

Attach a diamond core drill bit to the drill tightly, place the drill bit against the indent at the bottom of the bottle and slowly begin to drill a hole. Periodically, stop drilling and spray the bottom of the bottle with water so the surface of the glass stays lubricated.

  4. Step 4

Rinse the SoBe bottle well under running water to remove all shards of glass from the bottom of the incense burner. Sand the bottom of the drilled hole, then rinse the bottom of the bottle again.

  5. Step 5

Clamp the bottom of an incense stick with a clothespin. Light the incense, allowing it to burn until the tip is red, then blow out the flame.

  6. Step 6

Lower the lit incense slowly into the SoBe incense burner, allowing the clothespin to rest in the neck of the bottle so the incense is suspended.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wear gloves when making the hole in the bottom of the bottle in case it shatters as you drill the hole.
