Whether you're heading to a party with an 80s theme or simply want a Halloween outfit that's humorous and comfortable, adopt the look of the decade's physical fitness trend. You don't have to be Olivia Newton John to get "physical" with this costume.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Spandex leotard
  • Tights
  • T-shirt
  • Leg warmers
  • Knit headband
  • Hairspray and makeup
  • Tennis shoes or skates
  • Jump rope, towel or mat
Step1
Decide on the color of your outfit. The fashions of the eighties featured bright colors like hot pink, orange, sunny yellow and red, as well as basics like white and shimmering silver.
Step2
Wear a spandex one-piece leotard over a coordinating shade of tights. Add a t-shirt with a phrase or cartoon character on the front. If it's not a half shirt, turn it into one by gathering the bottom and tying a tight knot at one side of your waist.
Step3
Include leg warmers from your ankle to your knee. Buy them long enough so you can bunch them attractively at the ankle. If you can't find leg warmers, even wild tube socks will do. (See Resources)
Step4
Fix your hair to match the outfit and the decade. Find a look that you can create with your current length as long as it features a knit headband wrapped around your forehead, plenty of volume, curls and hairspray to keep it perfect while exercising. Add makeup as bold as your hair, including thick black mascara, iridescent eye shadow and glossy lipstick. (See Resources)
Step5
Accessorize the outfit with tennis shoes (add silver metallic shoelaces as a sparkly touch), leather jazz dancing flats or even a pair of roller skates. Carry a jump rope, white towel, rolled up exercise mat or bottle of water to complete the look.
