If you have old SIM cards lying around, don't throw them away. Use SIM cards to make earrings instead. Find two identical SIM cards that you're sure you don't want to use anymore and follow these steps to recycle them into a pair of SIM card earrings.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sim cards
  • Rubber gloves
  • Thumbtack, small nail, pin or thick needle
  • Crafting or needle-nosed pliers
  • Jump rings
  • Earring hooks
  1. Step 1

Remove the SIM cards from the backs of phones that are no longer in use.

  2. Step 2

Purchase two earring jump rings and hooks.

  3. Step 3

Wear rubber gloves and poke holes at the top center of each SIM card using a thumbtack, small nail, pin or thick needle.

  4. Step 4

Hold the jump ring up. Use crafting or needle-nosed pliers to twist the jump ring sideways and open while holding one side in place. Separating the jump ring this way is easier than pulling the two ends apart.

  5. Step 5

Insert the jump ring into the SIM card's newly-made holes. If you find that the holes aren't big enough for the jump ring to fit through, simply take your hole-maker and make the hole big enough for the jump ring.

  6. Step 6

Slide an earring hook over the jump ring. Hold one side of the jump ring in place while you use the pliers to close the jump ring so the earring hook won't fall out.

  7. Step 7

    Wear your SIM card earrings.

Tips & Warnings
  • While gloves aren't necessary to complete this project, they protect you from accidental cuts.
  • Supervise children who do this craft.
