It is very frustrating to be stuck behind a slow driver. Some drivers drive slower than the speed limit to be extra cautious and avoid accidents. In all actuality they are dangerous on the road because cars have to slow down suddenly and the slow driver risks a rear-end collision. Follow these steps to make a slow driver pull over.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Flash your bright lights at the slow driver. This will draw attention to the fact that you are behind him. If he is a respectable driver he will pull over at the next turnout.

  2. Step 2

Honk your horn at the next turnout if she fails to pull over when you flash your bright lights. This will bring attention to the fact that you want her to pull over at the next turnout.

  3. Step 3

Wave your arm out the window, motioning for him to pull over if honking the horn fails to work. Try to do this at a turnout so that he gets the point. If he's aware of his speed he should pull over.

  4. Step 4

Pass the slow driver when a passing lane becomes available. Call the highway patrol and inform them that there is a slow driver on the road interfering with the speed of traffic.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never tailgate the slow driver to make them pull over. If they panic they may brake suddenly, causing you to rear-end them. This will put you at fault for the accident and you may cause harm to yourself or the slow driver.
  • Never yell or curse at the slow driver. Besides being rude this can also result in a case of road rage and someone getting hurt.

on 6/8/2008 When I am driving the legal speed limit, there is always someone using these techniques because they feel they have the right to speed. There is no way I will speed up or pull over because someone else has ants in their pants. I feel it is very rude to expect someone else to move out of your way as if you and your agenda are more important than theirs. I can only see using these techniques if you are having an emergency.
