How to Get an Overly Sensitive Emo Boyfriend to Dump You

Sometimes when a relationship isn't going very well, you want to end things but don't want to be the one to cause your boyfriend pain, especially if he's a sensitive emo boy. By convincing him that it's his idea to break up, you can save yourself from looking bad and get out of the relationship.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Distance yourself. Fade out when your boyfriend's talking about his problems or change the subject and cut your time short.

  2. Step 2

Stop feeling sorry for him. Overly sensitive guys tend to cling to a girlfriend for support. Be there for him but shrug him off and stay unemotional with him.

  3. Step 3

Decrease your affection. Give short hugs, find ways to pull away from him and stop telling him you love him. Try not to initiate any contact that might give him hope.

  4. Step 4

Get more involved with friends, family, work, school or other activities. Show him you may not have the time to be with him anymore.

  5. Step 5

Let him break up with you and don't try to change his mind or pretend to be extremely upset about it. Listen to his speech and silently nod, saying you understand it's for the best. Avoid crying or laughing at him.

  6. Step 6

Dump him if he won't end the relationship. After a while, if you are still unhappy, talk to him about it. If you want out, it's ultimately your responsibility to say so.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid pushing it too far--don't be mean or cruel to get him to break up with you. He's sensitive enough as it is; no need to scar him for life.
