Sometimes cats aren't satisfied with store-bought dry cat food. They require a more flavorful meal. Making raw cat food is one way to provide them with the proper nutrition they need. All one needs to make raw cat food is raw meat, vitamin supplements and the following steps.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • 4 pounds of raw meat with bones in
  • 21 ounces of raw liver and raw heart
  • 2 cups water
  • 4,000 mg. salmon oil
  • 200 mg Vitamin B-complex
  • ¼ tsp. dulse
  • 800 IU Vitamin E
  • 4 egg yolks
  • Sharp knife
  • Meat grinder
Step1
Slice the meat, separating the muscle from the bone, and placing them into two separate piles. Cut the meat into many slightly large chunks.
Step2
Weigh the organ meats to be sure you have the proper amount. Refrigerate the meat, bones and organs until it is time to use them.
Step3
Mix the Vitamin B complex, salmon oil, dulse and Vitamin E together with water and four raw egg yolks.
Step4
Grind the bones and organs in a meat grinder. Mix these with the larger pieces of meat.
Step5
Add the vitamin, oil, water and egg yolk mixture to the meat and bones. Mix completely, making sure to evenly distribute the meat and mixture.
Step6
Spoon out the completed raw cat food into separate containers. Be sure to label the containers with the date and the type of meat used for the raw cat food before freezing.
Step7
Serve the cat food by putting a portion into a plastic bag, sealing it and running it under hot tap water until it is at least room temperature.

Tips & Warnings

  • Salmonella and E. coli bacteria are possible with raw meat, but can be avoided by cooking the food at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes.
  • Be sure to study feline nutrition to be sure that you create a balance in the cat's diet.
  • Do not microwave the cat food, as the bones can splinter and harm the cat.
  • Do not serve this mixture cold and do not microwave.
