Step 1
Make your presence known to the director. Before you audition for a role, you should try to get introduced to the director. If it's a school play, sign up for one of his acting classes.
-
Step 2
Find out what she's looking for in an actor. The director may have a specific idea about what she wants for the role you're after.
-
Step 3
Get into character. Read the script from front to back to really get into the character's mind. Some actors rely on method acting to land roles. To do this, imagine yourself as the character at all times before the audition.
-
Step 4
Perform several practice auditions before the real thing. You shouldn't make the actual audition the first time you perform a scene in its entirety. Do your audition in front of other actors (not any competitors) to get their advice.
-
Step 5
Project your voice. In theater, you have to make sure everyone in the audience can hear you. The director will pay attention to how you project during an audition.
