Since only one person is needed to fill each role in a play, parts are very competitive in the theater world. In a specific production, you may find that there are only a few lead parts. You need to possess more than just talent to get the role you want in a play; read on for some useful tips.

  1. Step 1

    Make your presence known to the director. Before you audition for a role, you should try to get introduced to the director. If it's a school play, sign up for one of his acting classes.

  2. Step 2

    Find out what she's looking for in an actor. The director may have a specific idea about what she wants for the role you're after.

    Get into character. Read the script from front to back to really get into the character's mind. Some actors rely on method acting to land roles. To do this, imagine yourself as the character at all times before the audition.
