Creating the perfect skull face for Halloween begins with having the right supplies. Take a checklist with you when you're shopping so you won't forget something crucial and come away with the best products to make you the scariest skull on the block.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Buy some white cream paint and black grease paint to contrast your skull effect. Large pots are easy to find in seasonal and party stores and are usually inexpensive. Ensure you have enough, as the base needs to be quite thick, and you may be going to use it for more than one person.
Step2
Get several different sponges for the various colors and applications. You need a large circular sponge for your white base makeup but also a smaller "wedge" shape sponge you can use for hard-to-reach areas and filling in cracks. Look for a sponge pack in the grocery store with several different sizes that will be cheaper and also save you washing in between if you need to apply several different colors.
Step3
Find a black makeup pen or stick to outline the nose and eyes. Choose something that isn't too thin or fine because the outlines work better when they are bolder and less precise. Find something that doesn't have a sharp point or that you can easily blunt, so it won't hurt the skin during application.
Step4
Look in your drawers or tool kit at home for a small thin paint brush. You need a brush to add the finer lines for blending the bones on the sides of the face. A paintbrush works just as well as a more expensive branded makeup brush.
Step5
Read the labels on the back of all your products before you buy to check for any irritants or ingredients that could aggravate your skin. If you or the person wearing the makeup has very sensitive skin, look for hypo-allergenic products or those designed specifically for that skin type.
Step6
Save time and energy by getting a pre-made kit from an online or local store. These are more convenient because they already include everything you need but they are often more expensive than buying supplies separately.
