If you are like many people, coping with stress is hard. Life's experiences are sometimes stressful and are unavoidable. The key to coping with stress is how you process the stress, and then relax after hearing the stressful news. Finding ways to cope with your stress is important to your general physical health. Here are some steps to help you relax after hearing stressful news.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Take slow, deep breaths. Holding your breath or breathing shallowly is harmful to your kidneys and could lead to hypertension. By taking slow deep breaths, you allow the blood vessels to relax, and it calms down your sympathetic nervous system.
Step2
Exercise. Relaxation exercises are important to relieving the stress knots in your shoulders, neck, muscles and even stress-related headaches.
Step3
Laugh. A daily dose of giggles will help your mind and body relax. You will be surprised how relaxed you will feel after watching a funny movie or just listening to someone tells funny jokes.
Step4
Eat something you like but don't normally eat. For example, that yummy piece of chocolate cake or maybe a banana split will help you feel better.
Step5
Relax in a tub of warm water. While enjoying a warm bath, put on some relaxation music and just lay back, close your eyes and listen to the music.
Step6
Get up and start moving. Go for a walk and listen to the birds, enjoy the clouds, smell the flowers, let the sun warm your face, and most important, have a talk with God.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you do not learn how to manage the stress, then the stress will manage you.
  • Do not do exercises that are too strenuous.
