Instructions

    • 1

Decide which Robin superhero look you want to portray. There is a classic Robin look from the 1960s television show and a modern look from the motion pictures and cartoons in the 1990s. Look at pictures of the different types of Robin when planning your costume.

    • 2

Create the costume elements that are similar across both looks: the mask, the gloves and belt. Make a mask out of a piece of black felt or fleece. Use a pair of eyeglasses to correctly position the eye holes. Leave enough fabric on the mask so you can tie it in the back. Make a belt by covering a current belt buckle with a circular buckle created from felt that has adhesive on it. Craft stores such as Hobby Lobby sell adhesive felt in various colors. Wear green gloves that are longer than your wrist.

    • 3

Make a Robin shirt out of a red-and-green t-shirt or tunic-style top. Cut the sleeves off of the red t-shirt and wear it over a green t-shirt. Make a yellow R on a black circle using adhesive felt, and make several horizontal yellow rectangles out of the adhesive felt. Place the R on the left side of the shirt and the bars beginning at the top in the center of the shirt.

    • 4

Wear tights and shorts for the bottom half of the Robin costume. Wear opaque green or white tights and green shorts for the classic superhero or red ones for the more recent one.

    • 5

Use a basic black cape from another costume or buy one from a costume store. Add yellow fabric to the outside of the cape and hem it to be just below the back for the classic Robin, and leave it long for the other superhero look.

    • 6

Put on black boots for the modern Robin and add a green façade with wings over the boots for the older style. Make the green embellishments out of cardboard or adhesive felt. Finish the costume with a dark brown wig similar to Robin's haircut.

    • 7

Fashion a Robin costume for a baby or toddler using a red onesie and green shorts. Make the logo and belt on the computer, print them onto fabric transfer paper from an office supply or craft store and iron them onto the onesie clothes to prevent choking. Use Velcro to create a cape.
