How to Get Good Grades as a Teen Without Studying a Lot

As a teen, you get to enjoy school spirit, extracurricular activities and a social scene that are lively and unique. Enjoying high school depends largely on how much free time you have, though. With a little commitment, you can maximize your free time and get good grades without spending too much time studying.

Instructions

    • 1

Improve your study skills to make the time you spend studying more efficient. Learning to better organize your schoolwork helps you get more done in less time.

    • 2

Take good notes and pay attention in class. As a general rule of thumb, you'll have to learn anything you don't pick up in the classroom at home.

    • 3

Use your down time in school to do homework and finish assignments for class. You'll have more energy for studying at home if you're not having to do other assignments on the side, as well.

    • 4

Form a study group or homework coalition with your friends. As long as you're not breaking any rules, cooperating on assignments is a great way to free up time for yourself.

    • 5

Work on your memory. There are a variety of ways to train your brain, but even the simplest methods like mnemonics are very effective in helping you store and retrieve information that's hard to remember.

    • 6

Get regular exercise. Studies have shown that aerobic exercise boosts your mental capabilities, which in turn allows you to finish your work quickly and retain more of what you learn.
