Stop security alerts from Windows interrupting you. Those interruptions have the effect of breaking your whole train of thought when one pops up. You can get rid of them quickly. Outlined here is the process to disable the Windows XP Security Center and an explanation of how to reactivate it if you ever want it back.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Open your control panel. The process to do this is to choose Start>Settings>Control Panel. Most of the applications in this folder are for controlling the computer systems and Windows operations. One of the applications shown is administrator tools. This controls all the behind the scenes services that Windows runs while you are computing.
Step2
Select "Services." Scroll down the list, find "Security Center," and double click on it. Select the "General" tab and look for the section that specifies how the service starts. Select disable on the start up type. Select "OK," and close the Control Panel.
Step3
Reboot the computer and you will now be running a system without the Windows Security Center. You will no longer receive security alerts. One caution you must be aware of is that this will leave your system vulnerable to infections by malware and spyware.
Step4
Enable the Windows Security Center by going back into the Administrator Tools in the Control Panel and selecting "Services." Find the service labeled Security Center and select start up type as "Automatic." Reboot the computer and the Security Center will be working again.
