1. Break the ice with a joke. Laughter can open a girl up and make her feel comfortable around you. The old adage that every girl is looking for a guy who makes her laugh has some truth in it.
2. Ask lots of questions. Especially if they are inciteful and not at all inappropriate questions, she'll think you are intelligent and a good talker.
3. Be comfortable yourself in order to make a girl feel comfortable around you. Nerves can get the best of you sometimes, but try to put yourself at ease to put her at ease.
4. Sit with an open posture, because body language can be contagious. If you sit with your arms or legs crossed and refuse to loosen up, it is almost impossible to make her feel comfortable around you. Rest your shoulders back and keep an inviting stance while sitting or standing around her.
5. Smile and be courteous. Especially if you are approaching a girl for the first time, you can make her feel comfortable around you with a smile and an up-beat, excited air.
6. Compliment her, but don't come on too strong. After you have broken the ice, and shown interest in her as a person, you can give her a compliment about her eyes or her hair to help her feel more comfortable.
