Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Chemical hair remover product
- Soft washcloth
- Warm water
Step1
Choose a product for your hair and skin type. This may involve buying more than one product to remove the hair on different areas of your body. The coarse hair on your shins requires a strong product that can burn the delicate skin on your face.
Step2
Follow the recommended skin allergy test, especially if you've never used a specific brand before. This involves spreading a tiny amount on one leg, leaving it for the recommended time, then removing it and waiting 24 hours to make sure you don't develop a skin reaction.
Step3
Proceed to treat the entire area when the skin test reveals no allergic reaction. Spread or spray the chemical hair remover on your skin, making sure you apply it evenly. Be careful when using the spray-on variety because the overspray will burn if it comes into contact with your mouth, eyes or genital area.
Step4
Test after the minimum recommended time by gently wiping off a spot with a warm damp cloth. If the hair comes off easily, leaving no stubble, continue to wipe off the rest of the depilatory. If not, test again every couple of minutes.
Step5
Shower to remove leftover chemical residue after wiping the depilatory off. However, don't just hop in the shower instead of using the washcloth as the gentle friction of the cloth against your skin is needed to loosen the dissolved hair from the follicle.
Step6
Apply a good hypoallergenic moisturizer and avoid direct sunlight for 12 hours if your skin is tender.
