Nail polish on a shiny surface such as a sink can be difficult to remove. If done incorrectly, you could take the shine off the surface along with the nail polish. Follow these steps to safely remove nail polish from a sink.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Pour baking soda into a bowl or cup. Fill it up about halfway full or higher.

  2. Step 2

Add enough water to make the baking soda into a paste.

  3. Step 3

Use a spoon to mix it into a pasty and grainy texture.

  4. Step 4

Put the paste on the nail polish stain on the surface of the sink.

  5. Step 5

Use a soft scouring pad to gently rub on the stain and remove the nail polish. Rub the nail polish stain with the scouring pad for about 15 to 20 minutes.

  6. Step 6

Let the paste set on the stain for about an hour or so if the scouring pad does not remove the nail polish. After an hour, scrub on the stain with the scouring pad once more.

  7. Step 7

Rinse the baking soda paste off the sink and dry with a towel.

  8. Step 8

Make a new batch of paste and repeat the process if the nail polish stain remains on the sink. Repeat the process until the stain is removed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Alternatively you can use baking soda toothpaste to remove the stain instead of mixing the baking soda paste.
  • You can also dilute nail polish about half and half to try to remove the nail polish stain if nothing is working. But, before doing so, test a tiny area with a cotton ball.
  • Do not use straight nail polish remover to remove nail polish from a sink. This will dull the sink's surface.
