Shampoo, conditioner and hair styling products may work wonders for a time, but eventually they begin to buildup in your hair, giving you dull, lifeless locks. Treating your hair to remove excess buildup from time to time is one of the best things you can do to keep your hair healthy and beautiful. You can remove buildup, quickly, easily and naturally for just a few pennies.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pour some baking soda into a bowl and add enough water to make a paste. The amount you make will depend on how long your hair is. This mixture is quick and easy to whip up, so start with a little and make more if necessary.

  2. Step 2

Wet your hair and wring out the excess water. Apply the paste to your hair, beginning at your scalp and working down to the tips. Make sure that you massage the paste into your scalp to remove excess buildup around your hair follicles. Allow the paste to set for about a 1/2 hour.

  3. Step 3

Mix up your hair rinse while your paste is setting. Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar with four parts water, again, making enough for the length of your hair. If you make extra, it can be stored in your bathroom cabinet for next time.

  4. Step 4

Shampoo and condition your hair as normal using cold water. Hot water washing is one of the worst things you can do for your hair, stripping it of it's natural oils and making it brittle. Use your vinegar and water mixture as your final rinse to remove any buildup left in your locks. Repeat this treatment as needed for shiny, beautiful hair.

Tips & Warnings
  • Yes, vinegar smells, but don't worry; once your hair has dried, the odor should not be noticeable.
