How to Get to Know a Boy at a School Dance

School dances are great places to get to know your classmates. The fun environment, good music and light-hearted flirting give you a chance to socialize and see the lighter side of student life. If you've got your eye on one boy in particular, you can use your time at the school dance to talk with him and learn more about his personality.

1. Find a quiet place to rest and chat between songs. Your conversation won't get far if you can't even hear what each other are saying, so do your best to find a reasonably secluded spot.
2. Take time to talk about whatever interests your guy. If you know he's in a club or on a sports team, ask him how the season's going. If you don't know anything about him, try to get him to talk about his interests and hobbies.
3. See what kind of songs he likes to dance to. If he's shy, gently prod him to get out on the floor and show off his moves. Learning what music he likes gives you important clues about his personality.
4. Make eye contact with your boy from across the room and slowly move in to ask him to dance. You don't need to dance with him on every song, but make your presence known over the course of the evening.
5. Stay relaxed and have fun. The best way to get to know other people is by being yourself and exuding as much self confidence as you can.
