How to Format a Special Email

Regular emails are plain and generic, but you can change the format. Use Outlook Express or Hotmail to send a fancy email to someone special. Use these tips to format a special email and send your message to that special person.

Instructions

    Using Outlook Express

  1. Step 1

    Click "Write Mail" or "New Message" on your toolbar. Click inside the body of your email sand type up your letter.

  2. Step 2

    Change the font. Highlight whatever part of your email you would like to change and open the "Format Menu" by clicking "Format" on the email menu bar. Choose a "Font Style" from the font list. "Script" is always a popular one if you want an elegant looking font. Pick a size that is easy to read, but also shows your personality to the recipient.

  3. Step 3

    Make the font a different color if you want. This is also an option on the "Format" menu.

  4. Step 4

    Click "Format" and then scroll down to "Background" to change your email's background. The "Background Picture" window opens. Browse through the pictures and choose a picture from the list--you could choose a picture to go along with your special occasion. The picture will now appear in your email.

  5. Step 5

    Pick a color from the "Background Menu" to change the background. You can also click on "Sound" to add a sound clip to your email. Your email will make a sound when someone opens it.

  6. Using Hotmail

  7. Step 1

    Click "New" on the email toolbar and a new email will open. Type something special in the subject box.

  8. Step 2

    Change the font style by clicking the "Font" button the email toolbar. Choose a style. Click the font size button to change the size. Be sure and highlight the text you wish to change first.

  9. Step 3

    Pick a different text color by clicking the text color icon and choosing a color. Type your letter in the new color.

  10. Step 4

    Change the background color by clicking on the "Background Color" button. Choose this carefully, so that your text can still be seen clearly.

  11. Step 5

    Find an emoticon to add to your email. Click the emoticon icon on the email toolbar and pick a smiley face or image from the chart. This can say a lot to the recipient about how you were feeling when you wrote their special email.
