Whether you are a skater girl, punk, emo, goth chic or hardcore rocker, you will need to have a tough look to go with your raw style. It can be quite easy to overdo or underestimate your makeup, but a few tips can help you create your own, unique tough look.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Foundation that suits your skin tone and complexion
  • Dark eyeliner
  • Strong eyeshadow (no pastels)
  • Dark lipstick (no gloss)
  • Dark nail polish (no glitter)
  1. Step 1

Use a light foundation, the perfect beginning for any look. Make sure that your foundation matches your skin tone and is suitable for your skin type. Basically any foundation will do; however, avoid powders with light-reflecting technology which will give you a bit of a sparkle. These products are usually called "brilliance," "luminescence" or something similar.

  2. Step 2

Choose a dark eyeliner in black, charcoal or even deep green or purple. Apply the product thickly to both your lower and upper eyelids. For an especially tough look, make sure that the liner is applied along the entire lid, from tear duct to outer crease.

  3. Step 3

Color your lids with dark colors, avoiding pinks or pastels. Instead, use bronze, greens, blues, purples or even charcoals. While most colors can be used for a tough look, you should avoid light colors and glitter shadows that will soften your eyes. Apply your makeup dark and powerful for a striking tough look.

  4. Step 4

Pucker up and do your lips with dark colors that complement your skin tone; however, avoid gloss or pastel pinks. As a general rule, the darker your lips the tougher your look. When using dark lipstick is is best to avoid liner pencils, as you lip color may fade leaving you with an unsightly frame around your lips.

  5. Step 5

Express your tough style with the perfect nail polish. Again, just say no to glitter and pastels and remember, the darker the better. Black, dark brown or even blood red can be a great way to top off your look.
