Some people are conformists and look down on people who dare to express their individuality. If you like to dress in your own unique style, you may encounter haters who make comments about it. These are the ways you can defend your original style choices.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Step1
Ignore petty comments. You can defend your style choices by ignoring detractors and keeping your style even if some people don't like it. Everyone likes different types of clothes and you should stick with clothing items that appeal to your tastes.
Step2
Embrace your uniqueness. Most people don't like different styles because they don't understand them. Feel free to explain why you choose to dress in the manner that you do.
Step3
Find others like yourself. If your friends don't like your style, maybe it's time to find people you have more in common with. New friends may understand you better than your old group.
Step4
Shut them up with a look. Sometimes, if you're picked on for your style, you can intimidate the person or group into backing down. Give them a dirty look or eye roll before walking away. This sends out the message that you're not affected by their comments.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't stoop to their level. It makes no sense for you to get into a debate about how your style's better than theirs. They don't deserve your time.
  • Don't make fun of other people's style choices. Since you don't like getting picked on for the things you wear, you should not do it to others.
