Some parents are overprotective and don't allow their kids to have a MySpace or Facebook page. If your parents forbid you to have your own profile page on these social networking sites, you'll have to figure out a way to deal with the inconvenience.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Realize you're not the only one without a page. Plenty of other kids are in the same boat as you.

  2. Step 2

Find other ways to connect with your friends and fellow students. You can keep in touch through other ways besides MySpace and Facebook. Start text messaging your friends or exchange email addresses.

  3. Step 3

Understand that it's probably in your best interest. Parents restrict MySpace and Facebook accounts as a way to protect their child. They want to keep their kid safe from cyber-stalking or cyber-bullying.

  4. Step 4

Keep busy. If not having an account really bothers you, stay active with school and extracurricular activities. If someone asks why you don't have an account, let them know you're too busy to waste your time online.

  5. Step 5

Ask your parents for a restricted account. If safety's a concern, see if you can get a private profile page on one of the sites. You can also give them your username and password if they want to track your activities.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're young, your parents may allow you to have access to a more age-appropriate social networking site. Ask if you can sign up for a site like Club Penguin instead of MySpace or Facebook.
