Sometimes people can become so busy with their own lives, they fail to notice things going on around them. One instance is a friend who is upset but doesn't say anything. This can fly right under a person's radar if he is not paying attention to any signs.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Put your own life aside when talking to your friends. Too many times people think only about their own lives and fail to pick up signals that a friend may be upset. Listen to your friends when they are talking to you without thinking of what to say next or thinking about the bad day you just had.

  2. Step 2

Observe your friend's actions when she is quiet. If she drifts away and seems distant, she may be upset. Pay attention to any actions outside of her normal personality. If the friend is normally quiet, she may start acting outgoing and loud. Just take note of anything that seems out of place from her normal behavior.

  3. Step 3

Notice any changes in body language. If she draws back from you when you try to get near or hug her, she may be angry. Some people just like their space but this could be a sign that the friend is upset.

  4. Step 4

Ask the friend if she is okay. Do not be confrontational; just ask her if everything is all right in the normal course of conversation.
