There are different areas that you can perform a boardslide on using a snowboard. You can do this on a rail, a box or basically any object that allows you to slide on it. Boardslides use a moderate skill level, so you should know your snowboarding basics prior to attempting more difficult tricks. For the purpose of the following steps the example of a rail is used.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Ride your snowboard towards the rail. The rail should be on the side that your body is facing. Therefore, if you ride with your left foot first, the rail should be to your right, and vice versa if you snowboard with your right foot first.

  2. Step 2

Jump up onto the rail to begin the boardslide. This is also called an olly. When you jump onto the rail, the snowboard should land flat on the base.

  3. Step 3

Turn your shoulders and begin the boardslide backwards. Make sure you maintain equal balance on both legs as you slide down the rail.

  4. Step 4

Look behind you over your shoulder as you boardslide to the end of the rail. It may help to have your eyes focused on the end of the rail.

  5. Step 5

Straighten your snowboard at the bottom of the rail by turning your shoulders and begin riding normally again.
