Instructions

    • 1

Decide what color you want the stripes to be in your coon tail. You can use bleach to make light stripes or dye the sections with hair color. If you want a vibrant color, bleach it first and then use a hair color.

    • 2

Section off the hair you want to make into coon tails. Use clips to secure the sections. Tie the rest of your hair out of the way to prevent contact with the dye.

    • 3

Protect your clothing with an old towel. Wrap it around your neck and clip it to prevent dye or bleach from coming into contact with your clothing. Cover the floor around your chair.

    • 4

Wrap pieces of tape around the sections of your hair to resemble coon tails. The taped sections will be the rings that remain your natural hair color. Space the tape apart according to the thickness of rings you want.

    • 5

Put on rubber gloves to protect your hands from the bleach or dye. Dip your gloved fingers into the bleach or dye and rub it into the hair. Saturate the hair thoroughly so that it doesn't end up with a patchy appearance.

    • 6

Rinse off the coon tail after it processes to your desired color. The tape will slide off when it's wet and your coon tail is complete.
