Running a business out of your home can be a problem when it comes to postal mail. You don't want to give out your home address but going to the post office everyday gets to be a pain. This is where an online postal service comes in handy. They will receive your postal mail and scan it into digital format for you to access and read online.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Sign up for an online postal program such as Earth Class Mail. There are several online postal mail programs for singles, couples and small businesses. The amount of mail you expect to receive determines the different pricing plans.

  2. Step 2

Choose an address to use to receive your postal mail. The addresses appear as either PO boxes or street addresses with a suite number. The addresses aren't available in every city but there is a wide selection from which to choose.

  3. Step 3

Complete and return the US Postal Service form 1583. This form will authorize the online mail company to receive your mail. You can get this form at the US Postal Service website.

  4. Step 4

Inform your friends, family and/or clients of your new address. You can do this via telephone, email or post card. This gives you the freedom to decide whether you want your postal mail sent to your house or the online mail service.

  5. Step 5

Read your postal mail online via the online mail service. Log on to your account to read your mail using your user name and password.
