Electronics Arts (EA) game, Need for Speed, is one of the most popular franchises in history. Need for Speed IV: High Stakes is the first game in the series to introduce Career Mode. Gamers create a character who begins as a rookie and progresses all the way to king of the tracks. Career Mode has three racing circuits. Race them in this order--Tournament, Knockout and High Stakes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Select the Mercedes SLK 230 for your beginning car. It is faster than the BMW Roadster. You will the first races with raw speed.
Step2
Invest race winnings in the Mercedes SLK 230. Make Level 1 improvements as soon as possible. Beginning opponents drive unmodified vehicles. Add new cars from the NFSCheats website, Game Spot (see link in Resources).
Step3
Race every event on the European Tour. After completing tour, continue racing on those tracks to win more prize money. There's no limit to how many times a driver can race on a track. Fully modify the Mercedes and test out new vehicles in Single Race Mode. Select the most comfortable one and purchase in Career Mode.
Step4
Pay the entry fee for the next available tournament. These new tracks are now available in all modes. Race every track in Single Race Mode first. Find detailed descriptions of vehicles and courses at the Neoseeker website (see link in Resource section).
Step5
Compete in Career Mode until the Tournament section is completed. Don't be the slowest car in the Knockout Series, or you will be out of the race. First place is not as important as track mastery. Practice races in Single Race Mode and build winnings in Career Mode. Upgrade your vehicle for better handling and more speed.
Step6
Finish Career Mode with the High Stakes Series. Whenever possible, use the Porsche 911. It is the best overall car in the game.
