How to Move Bookmarks in an Acrobat PDF
One way you can organize your Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional PDF is by organizing your bookmarks. You can do this by displaying the "Bookmarks" pane and then moving a selected bookmark to a new location. Start Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and open a PDF document that contains bookmarks that you would like to reorganize by moving the bookmarks to a new location.

Click the "Bookmarks" button on the left side of the Acrobat screen. It is the second button from the top on the dark gray pane and is depicted by the picture of a page with a ribbon over it. Once clicked, the "Bookmarks" pane will be displayed just to the right of the "Bookmarks" button. Within the "Bookmarks" pane, you will see all of the bookmarks that exist within this PDF document.

Locate the bookmark that you would like to move to a different location in the "Bookmarks" pane.

Select the bookmark you would like to move by clicking on it in the "Bookmarks" pane. A thick, black highlight will appear over the bookmark once it is selected.

Hold down your mouse button and drag the bookmark to the new location where you would like to move it. An arrow followed by a dotted line will appear, indicating where the bookmark will be moved. You can move the bookmark within the same level it resides or to a new level.

Release the mouse button when you are happy with the placement of the bookmark. The bookmark will now appear in its new location within the "Bookmarks" pane.

Tips & Warnings
Moving bookmarks around in the Acrobat bookmark pane does not move the bookmarks in the actual PDF, it only reorganizes them in the "Bookmarks" pane.
