When working in Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional, you may find that you want to navigate more quickly inside your PDF document. One way you can do this is by embedding your page thumbnails. Although this will increase your file size, you won't have to wait so long for the page thumbnails to appear when you display the "Page" pane. Follow the steps below to embed page thumbnails in your PDF.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional

Step1
Start Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and open an existing PDF document from your files that contains at least two pages.
Step2
Toggle the "Pages" button at the top of the gray pane on the left side of the screen. It is depicted by the picture of two pieces of paper. When you click the button, it will display the "Pages" pane just to the right of the "Pages" button.
Step3
Notice that when the "Pages" pane is displayed it will contain the page thumbnails. These thumbnails will be drawn out and may appear slowly if you have a large document.
Step4
Click the word "Options" near the top of the "Pages" pane to display a drop-down menu.
Step5
Select "Embed All Page Thumbnails" to embed all the page thumbnails included in the document. You may see the screen flash once after you choose this option.
Step6
Choose the "Page" button again to hide the "Pages" pane.
Step7
Click the "Page" button to display the "Pages" pane. Notice that this time when the page thumbnails are displayed, they automatically appear and you do not have to wait for them to be drawn out.
