Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Start Microsoft Excel 2007 and open an existing workbook that contains a chart that you would like to format the line style of or create a new chart from existing data in a workbook.

Right-click on top of the line that you would like to format in the chart so you can see a pop-up menu listing several options for formatting your chart.
Step3
Click on "Format (selected item)" to open up the "Format" dialog box. The item in parenthesis is the item that you right-clicked on that you want to format.
Step4
Select "Line Style" from the list of categories on the left side of the "Format" dialog box. The properties for line style will be displayed on the right side of the dialog box.
Step5
Type in a width for the line you have selected in the chart. Use the drop-down picture menus to select what type of compound or dashed line you would like to use. The drop-down list menus will let you specify the cap and join type for the line style.
Step6
Choose any arrow settings you would like to apply in the "Arrow settings" section of the "Format" dialog box. You can use the drop-down picture menus to choose the beginning type of arrow, ending type of arrow, beginning size and ending size.
Step7
Use the "Close" button to close the "Format" dialog box and return to your chart. You will now notice that you have successful formatted the chart line style in Excel.
