"Work with 100 percent passion," states Janice Dickinson, a former supermodel who now runs her own modeling agency. Dickinson modeled in New York, Milan and Paris in her twenties, but has more recently participated in a number of reality television shows, creating a larger-than-life persona. To run a modeling agency like Dickinson, it helps if you're already a celebrity. Even if you're not, you can still use her approach.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Advertise an open audition at a specific site and time to open the floodgates for talent, just as Dickinson does. Janice Dickinson relies on her experience as a model and photographer to spot what she calls "it" in a model, which isn't necessarily beauty. To spot "it" yourself, gain the advice of skilled professionals, such as fashion photographers, or just go with your instincts.

  2. Step 2

Train each model to create and maintain their appearance and health. Janice Dickinson hires fashion and health professionals to work with all of her models. Follow Dickson's approach and consult personal trainers, make-up artists, hair stylists and even cosmetic surgeons for directions and ideas. Require nutrition and fitness as Dickinson does; models who don't maintain their appearance accordingly lack the motivation needed to succeed in the business.

  3. Step 3

Expand your horizons by inventing new venues for models. Janice Dickinson constantly seeks and manifests new ideas in her modeling agency. Shortly after opening her modeling agency, she added a Latino Division and expanded her advertising to the Internet.

  4. Step 4

Demand commitment and excellence from all those involved with the modeling agency. Janice Dickinson has an outspoken and direct manner of dealing with models, her partner and clients alike, which earns her respect, compliance and ultimately success.

Tips & Warnings
  • Dickinson doesn't require cosmetic surgery, but rather seeks consultations for a select few. Cosmetic surgery should remain a personal decision for your models.
