To help law enforcement, be aware of the Amber Alert and what the description is of the missing child.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know that Amber Alerts are issued for children. Check the boards above on highways to see what has been posted. Amber Alerts are also announced on the radio and the local news.

  2. Step 2

Listen or read the description that is being given about the missing child. If your child is the one missing, contact law enforcement as soon as possible the sooner you give them as much information about the child the chance of a positive outcome are greater.

  3. Step 3

Know that if by chance you stumble upon a car that appears to be the one the police are searching for, contact the authorities. Stay a safe distance away from the vehicle but give as much information as you can. The description of the car as well as the driver are very crucial in helping.

  4. Step 4

Do not stop the driver--this can be very dangerous to you as well as the child. Just the assistance of locating the car that the police are looking for will help to bring a child home safely.
