Some of us know what mountain pies are and others don't. For those that don't, it's simply a campfire favorite sandwhich. Kinda like a grilled cheese, you can make the moutain pie ANY KIND you want. In the winter time you miss them favorite camptime foods, well you can do it in your own kitchen!!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mountain Pie Irons (can do with or without)
  • Bread (The square kind like kings that fits in the mountain pie irons if you wish
  • Butter
  • Ingredients you want in your sandwich: ham, cheese, pepperoni, etc.
  1. Step 1

You can do this 2 ways. Use your mountain pie iron and put it on the stove or if you have a griddle, put the griddle on the stove. It tastes just the same as if you made it on the campfire.

  2. Step 2

My personal favorite mountain pies are pizza and dessert. You can at this point make ANY KIND of sandwhich you want, such as roast beef.

Butter your bread, and put in the ingredients you like as for me, we use shredded mozzarella cheese, spaghetti sauce, and pepperoni for the pizza mountain pie.

  3. Step 3

Put that in your mountain pie iron, or on the griddle just like you would a toasted cheese sandwhich. Just keep watching it to see if it's done. For dessert mountain pie, we just use cherry pie filling. It's messy, but it tastes so good. You repeat the same steps for the dessert mountain pie.

    Enjoy!
If you have a fireplace, it works great as well. It's like your camping inside your own home during the cold winter months.
