How to Become a Teacher Without having to Student-Teach

It is possible to become a teacher without having to go through the agony of student-teaching.

Things You'll Need:

• College Degree from a four-year institution
• Clear permanent record
• Knowledge of a particular subject area
• previous educational experience

1. You must attend a four-year institution of learning and earn a degree. Maintaining a 3.O grade-point average is a plus. (Earn a degree in specific subject matter such as English, math, science, history, or psychology for example). Take some of the 100 and 200 level education courses.

2. Previous experience in an educational environment. Some ideas--become a teacher's aide for a year or two; work (help out) at a learning center (Sylvan, Huntington, etc.)

3. Create a resume indicating your four-year degree area of study and your past experience.

4. Read up on various curricula of the grade-level and subject area you want to teach.

5. Contact independent schools in your area and request an interview.
