Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Newer Version of Windows Media Player
  1. Step 1

Left click with the mouse on the word start at the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Locate the word "search" on the start menu and left click on it twice to open the search window.

  2. Step 2

In the first text box in the left pane type the words "windows media maker". Then select "local hard drive C:" from the srop down menu of where to search by clicking on the arrow and scrolling down until it is found. Then either press the "enter" key or left click on the search button below.

  3. Step 3

It will bring up a listing of programs and files matching the search terms typed in. When "Windows Media Maker" is located on the screen, check to make sure it has the ".exe" extension or left click twice with the mouse on it to launch the program to make sure it is the one desired.

  4. Step 4

After checking if it is the right program, make sure to be on the search window and right click on "Windows Media Maker" then select "send to" on the menu that pops up by scrolling to it with the mouse. From the second menu that pops up select, "Desktop(create shortcut)" for easier access in the future.

  5. Step 5

If it has not been done already, run the program to edit a desired video.
Program formats editable by "Windows Media Maker" include ".wmv", ".asf", and ".avi". For other formats, a different editor may have to be used or a conversion might have to be obtained. Watch out though with conversion programs, as the sound doesn't always come through with the video.

Tips & Warnings
  • A freeware or shareware conversion program may be obtained from the Internet.
  • Do not use to make illegal videos for upload or selling.
