Step1
I find it to be so much fun to rearrange my furniture and buy new things for my house it is almost addicting, and I have figured out ways to make you living room look great without being expensive.
Step2
So if you are bored with how your sofa, chair, or love-seat look, don't worry almost any department store carries slip covers, in all shapes sizes, and colors, usually ranging anywhere from $20-$100. Target has a great selection . A tip to get a slip cover to not slip is put a stitch or two in hidden areas of the couch so that the slip cover will stay in place better.
Another idea for you sofa is pillows, if you don already have some. Get matching throw pillows for your couch, it adds a nice touch. If you already have pillows for your couch, just go to a fabric store and pick out a fabric you like that coordinates with your new couch cover. Then take your existing pillow and cover it with the new fabric. You can usually pick up pillows anywhere from $10-$20.
Step3
Add A new area or throw rug to your space, it always add a little extra character they usually range from $20-$90. The dollar store is the best place to go for vases, and decorative figurines and different things to decorate with. I went to the dollar store and picked up these blue ball canning jars, I took them home and decided I wanted to do something neat with them, so I went to walmart and picked up this candle making kit that is a steal for $20 and I made candles out of the ball jars and they turned out wonderfully.
Another few Ideas also are that you could make a scrap book for your coffee table with either some interesting facts about you or your family, or create one with riddles, or trivia questions, the skies the limit and your friends will enjoy looking at it. Don't be afraid to try a new wall color, find a color that coordinates but doesn't match the color of your couch or throws, be creative, there are so many ways to paint your walls today.
Step4
Get new picture frames and you could repaint them, or jewel them or if you like the new picture frames don't change them, but you could take some of your pictures and make them look antiqued on your computer, or do black and white photos and only highlight one spot in the picture with color, I always thought they looked the neatest. I believe that you could also go to a Kodak center and do the same thing to your pictures you might want to check that out too.
You can pick up new curtains that are pretty inexpensive, layer shear ones with two different colors that match your new decor. Usually curtains run from $10-$100, just depending on the brand and style you like.
Step5
Yard Sales, need I say more? You could go to yard sales and pick up some neat finds, for practically free. The tip about yard sales is to, go early in the morning, because the later you go leaves a chance you might miss out on a good deal. Don't be afraid to try to talk someone down for something most people will always drop the price.
Pier 1 is a great place to check out for decorating ideas also. So have fun and if you have any additional questions or comments please leave them in the comment box.
