You will learn how to buy or lease a new or used car or truck using a commercial car and truck specialist. He will make it his business to save you time, money and hassle.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Internet access or a local business telephone directory

Step1
Determine what vehicle will best suit how you will use it. How many miles will it be driven per year? How much weight will be hauled or pulled in a trailer? How many, at most, passengers will be transported in this vehicle? Are you open to owning a used or new vehicle?
Step2
Via the internet or a local telephone directory, contact a commercial vehicle department manager for the brand of car or truck that you prefer. Ask him to recommend a salesman who is best qualified to help you with your car or truck needs.
Step3
If the recommended salesmen doesn't ask you at least all of the questions in Step 1, go back to Step 2.
Step4
If you are reasonably sure your salesmen is well qualified to handle your car and truck needs, arrange for a presentation meeting at your place of business or at the dealership.
Step5
Using your input, allow your salesman to choose a vehicle from stock that best matches your needs and wants.
Step6
Test-drive the vehicle prior to purchase.
Step7
Allow your salesman to present you with a purchase price that includes all incentives & rebates and a value for your trade-in(s)
Step8
Take an active role in the purchase. Going from one dealership to another asking for the "best price" will only generate prices that the dealership is comfortable with, or worse, one they will not honor on your return. If your salesman presents an offer that underwhelms you, offer what you had in mind with a substantial partial payment as earnest money to show you are a serious buyer.
Step9
If your offer isn't accepted, see if a counter offer will include service after the sale including free pickup and delivery service and a discount for parts and labor. If so consider the counter offer or go back to Step 2
