Step 1
Get out and exercise, preferably together. You should know by now that exercise reduces stress, depression and increases self-esteem. You will feel better about your body and more inclined to show it off. Increased stamina, oxygen intake and blood flow are just a few of the benefits that will translate to better “business time” in the bedroom. Walks or jogs in nature are free and super romantic for couples.

Step 2
Skip the Starbucks and eat more mangoes. A healthy diet that includes lots of fruits, vegetables and Omega 3s will boost your energy and increase alertness. You’ll feel more flirtatious, your skin will glow, and your hair will be softer to the touch. Giving up the daily designer latte will save you at least a thousand dollars a year and the reduction in caffeine will curb that afternoon edginess.

Step 3
Libraries can be sexy. Check out a few steamy novels or DVDs from your local library. It’s free and if you don’t enjoy the book or movie, you can always swap it for something that better floats your boat. Now this isn’t going to be the kind of action you might download from the Internet – we’re talking about Anais Nin, Pablo Neruda, and movies like Unfaithful (2002). Reading erotic text aloud to each other is exciting and it won’t cost you a penny.

Step 4
Be a cheap date. A picnic at the local park with a good bottle of under $15 wine and homemade sandwiches will stay in your memory longer than those pricey chain restaurant dinners. Browse the lingerie store, visit an art gallery, walk on the beach, test drive a convertible Jaguar, make-out at the drive-in, or go dancing at the hippest club (bring your own flask to keep cocktail costs down or just drink soda).

Step 5
Focus on the positive and minimize complaining. Nothing brings the temperature down more than whining about your financial situation. Yes, you want to make sure you talk about issues in the relationship, but choose your moments carefully. Focusing on the positive aspects of your life, what you find attractive in your partner and just being grateful for what you have will help get you in the mood.
