The easiest way to get started on improving rankings with links will be with internal links. Internal linking is as easy as providing a toolbar on the side of each page of your website with a link to each of your other pages. Many sites only provide this full toolbar on the home page, but when focusing on search engine rankings, it must appear on each page.

Another way to create your own links is to break up your website into several small sites. Then use links that connect each seperate site, as well as your home page/main site.

External links are another great way to improve your search engine rankings. External links can easily be created by posting your web address on high ranking sites, such as here at ehow and similar sites as a resource. You can also accomplish this by posting on large online communities (such as facebook), classifieds (such as Craigslist) and other sites that allow you to post information.

The more places your web address appears, the higher your rankings will be. Keep in mind, a simple 'Click here for more info...' type link is not very effective. Always try to use your full web address, such as 'Visit www.yoursite.com for more info...' to improve your search engine rankings.
