Web links in an unprotected Word document can be clicked on to open the web page in your computer’s browser. How that link is accessed, through a single click or through CTRL-click, can be determined in Word.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Microsoft Word 2003

Step1
Within Word, you have two options to activate web links, a single click or a CTRL-click. The CTRL-click option adds an additional step; however, that additional step helps to avoid inadvertently click on a link. Decide if you prefer to a single click or a CTRL-click to a web link in your web browser.
Step2
Tools menu In Word, click on Tools in the top menu and then click on Options from the drop down.
Step3
Options Box On the Options box, click on the Edit tab. Under Editing Options, there is a checkbox for “Use CTRL + Click follow hyperlink.” If you want to be able to just click the link to open it, UNcheck this box. If you want web links to function while holding down on CTRL and clicking on the link, then click the box to check it. Click OK.
