Static in your hair? Heaters and winter weather can make your hair terribly dry, damaged and then.....static-y. Don't worry, you won't have to cover your hair all winter with hats and bandannas- the solution is very simple!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Static guard
  • Comb or brush (or your hands if you don't use either)
  1. Step 1

Spray a little "Static Guard" onto your hands, and your comb or brush if you're using 'em.

  2. Step 2

Now run your hands over your hair and brush or comb through dry hair. You can also use hair spray or anti-frizz serum, but that's probably not exactly a news-flash for you.

  3. Step 3
    Tada! No static

    Tada! No static

Repeat as necessary- once or twice should be enough. Now your hair should be laying down normal and you're good to go.

  4. Step 4

Oh, and one more thing, while I realize that this sounds silly, it's still worth following: in the winter-time try to avoid shuffling your feet when walking on the carpet (this also helps you avoid getting shocked when you touch a light-switch).

Tips & Warnings
  • Use leave-in hair conditioner after you towel-dry your hair.
  • Don't use a hair-dryer until your hair is mostly dry- it's damaging and drying to your hair, plus it doesn't add any more volume in your hair until it's almost dry.
  • Don't spray static guard directly into hair. Or hairspray in your eyes (obviously).

on 5/24/2008 Great idea. Making sure your hair is conditioned well helps also and I have heard of wipeing a fabric softener sheet over the hair a couple times helps. Thanks for the idea Staysic.
