Learn how to make homemade cabbage soup, also known as cabbage patch soup.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2 Lbs Ground beef
  • 1 Can of chili with beans (no meat)
  • 1 12oz. Can of whole red ripe tomatoes
  • 1/2 Cup onions
  • 2 Fresh carrots cut up
  • 1 Cup of celery
  • 1 Lb of cabbage raw
  • 1 Tablespoon of chili powder
  • 1 Cube of beef bouillon
  • Seasonings as desired

Step1
In a skillet cook beef until brown.
Step2
In a large soup pot, combine beef, chili, tomatoes, onions, carrots, celery, cabbage, chili powder, beef cube, and seasonings. Sauté until vegetables are soft, approx. 5 minutes. Add water to desired level, and bring to a boil.
Step3
Reduce heat and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Makes 10 servings.
