I am writing this article to discuss some of the techniques and methods of online poker play.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

If you are interested in playing online poker for fun or, for money there are some things you'll need to know. First what sites are out there. There are a lot. Second, how long has the site been around and how many people play on it. It is a pain to put money on a site only to find out the traffic is low and you can't find a game. I recommend shopping around to see what is out there. There are also sites that will give you back your rack (the money that goes to the house)if you decide to play on a site that is trying to increase business, so check those out as well.

  2. Step 2

The next step is deciding how you want to put money on there. There are several ways to do that as well and differnt sites very in there payment methods. You may be able to use your credit card (though not all credit card companies approve of online gaming). Another common method is bank transfer. You can use your account number and routing number to transfer money. Western union is also a more expensive, but fast way to deposit money. Some sites are setup to accept deposits instantly, others could take 7-10 days. You may want to check that out before you play. You can also cashout about the same way that you deposited money or use a different method.

  3. Step 3

There are several books out there on how to play poker. It varies from no limit to fixed limit games. Fixed limit is mainly about checking and calling when weak and hoping to suck out and no limit is about aggressive play and it is more likely your good hands will hold up.

Tips & Warnings
  • Although a lot of people recommend check-raising and re-raising on fixed limit games, I only prefer to do this when I have the nuts because if someone is on a draw, they are probably going to call you no matter what and it will save you money by not re-raising. Good Luck and have fun.
  • Do not play online poker for money until you feel confident that you know what you are doing and have money to risk
