Hey, this article will show you how create and record your very own song without any sort of hi-tech (or high priced) equipment in a few easy to undersand steps.
A recording software for you computer called 'Audacity' (google it).
A microphone.
Some instruments
Musical talent.
Step1
We'll say that you have made a song already and now want it recorded to show to your friends and/or family.
So, plug in your mic and bring up audacity.
Step2
So, you have now practiced a while and want to get recording, so press record and start playing, (Note: You don't have to play it all together, you can play it seperately and edit it together).
Step3
Great, you just recorded your parts, but there is still a lot to do!
You can play around with the settings beside your track to increase/decrease the volume (this is why it is better to record in seperate parts), you can also decide wether you want a certain instrument to come out of a certain speaker/earphone.
You can also add effects to your tracks by clicking 'effects' at the toolbar.
Step4
So now all you need to do is save it right?
Wrong!
Click file and then click the 'export file' choice which will save your song as a mp3 file.
If you want to import this back into audacity you will notice that it is all probably in one track, this makes it easier to manage.
Step5
So now you have your track recorded!
Well done.
If you want to sell your songs to other people I'd recomend: http://indiestore.7digital.com
So get sending your songs to others, or even make a music video and upload it to a video site eg. YouTube or LiveVideo.
Expect to see an article from me on how to make a music video in the near future!
