choose the right fitness equipment for your home.
choose the right fitness equipment for your home.

This is about choosing exercise equipment suited to your lifestyle and energy and ambition to seek a fitness routine.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fitness equipment.
  1. Step 1

First ask yourself a question about your lifestyle and level of energy. This is the most important decision because you might be gung ho to get in shape and after a few sessions your equipment begins languish. You want to find equipment that will help you improve your level of conditioning for the physical activity that you enjoy. Perhaps equipment that strengthens upper & lower parts of body, such as tennis.

  2. Step 2

What type of conditioning or fitness have you engaged in previously? Considering gym classes in high school, plus any step, spinning, aerobics and weightlifting classes which you enjoyed.

  3. Step 3

What do you want to accomplish with your new equipment? Are you wanting to focus on your legs or backpacking or skiing? How much space can you dedicate to equipment in your home? Maybe a spare bedroom?

  4. Step 4
    Treadmill

    Treadmill

What is new? The new word in fitness is "Core" conditioning. It is fantastic and necessary for a good foundation. There are many balance products that are available for core development and stabilization exercises, such as new treadmills that offer low-impact running surfaces, elliptical machines with no impact, and recumbent cycles with a walk-through design and adjustable back rest.

Tips & Warnings
  • What is your commitment level? Do you think this is going to be a short term effort and/or you on a budget? Are you new to working out? If you are not sure about how long you will stay dedicated, consider purchasing your equipment from a discount store or garage sale or possibly used equipment.
  • Every piece of equipment breaks down. Find out if the store has parts in stock for the equipment they sell and make sure it is in good operating condition before it leaves the store. Nothing is worse than to spend two years getting your body in shape, then having your equipment break down and having to find someone to fix it. You can lose your fitness conditioning level in two months. Try to avoid purchasing equipment from a catalog. Good Luck!
