Things You'll Need:
- Practice clothes
- Time
- Determination
-
Step 1
1- Start off by practicing those jumps. Start practicing them a few weeks ahead of time so that when try outs roll around your jumps have been getting worked on and are at a good point.
-
Step 2
2- Work on your cheerleading motions. Do this by watching yourself in a mirror and watching to see if you are making all the moves correctly. The way i usually do this is by doing the (High V- Clasp- Low V- Table Top- Tee - Broken Tee - Touchdown- Hips- Right Diagonal Clasp- Left Diagonal Clasp- Charge the Crowd- Charge the Crowd- Charge the Crowd- YEAH) we usually did this whole set at least 5 times a practice. Keep the transitions quick and clean between each motion.
-
Step 3
3- Once you learn the tryout material practice it as much as you can. The more comfortable that you are with the material the easier the routines will be for you when the try outs roll around. Also try getting a group of other people trying out together to practice the routines with.
-
Step 4
4-When try outs are going on make sure to show up properly groomed. Have your hair pulled back into a pony tail and add a bow of your schools colors. Wear light make up so the judges will be able to see your face. Show up wearing comfortable clothes that are easy to cheer in. Try wearing your school colors.
-
Step 5
5- When doing the routines the judges will be looking at how you execute each motion. Keep everything as sharp as you can and the moves to where they should be. The better the motions you perform the higher your scores will be.
-
Step 6
6- When you go into the try outs make sure you go into it with confidence. By doing this the judges will notice your attitude. Keep a smile on your face at all times. The more happy that you seem and the smile on your face will let them know that you will be able to appeal to a crowd.
-
Step 7
7- If you have any tumbling skills make sure to do something that you are completely comfortable with. When you do your tumbling make sure that is clean and done accurately.
-
Step 8
8- Don't get discouraged if you mess up a part of the routine. If you do mess something up keep going. The judges will be happy that you were able to recover from a mistake and will have the knowledge that you were able to recover.

on 11/8/2009 For my tryouts, we are required to wear a solid, plain tank top with a sports bra, soffee shorts, high pony tail with lots of hairspray and a bow, and white cheer shoes and white socks. Remember to shave and wear lots of deoderant! :D
