Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Polymer Clay (such as Fimo or Sculpy) white or cream color
- small, simple, disc shaped wooden drawer pulls with attached screw
- oven
- acrylic craft paint in desired colors
- small paint brushes
- polyurethene, gloss or satin finish
- E6000 glue
Step1
Condition (soften) your clay by warming it in your hands for a few moments, then knead until easy to handle.
Preheat oven to 275 degrees ( or temperature on clay package directions).
Step2
Shape clay into desired motif ( here it was fish) making sure that it is at least 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick when finished. Turn clay over and gently, without distorting the front, press the wooden knob into the clay, leaving an indentation. Remove wooden knob and set aside. Place clay motif on cookie sheet, right side up. Bake according to package directions, depending on the thickness of the clay, usually between 15 and 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and allow to cool.
Step3
Paint your drawer pull with acrylic paints. When dry, bush on 2 coats of polyurethene.
Using E6000 glue (or any VERY STRONG glue) glue the wooden knob into the indentation that you made on the back side of the molded drawer pull. Allow to dry for 24 hours. Using the attached screw, screw onto drawer or door fronts.
