Family gatherings. Kids over for the afternoon. Even birthday parties. There are times when you need to come up with a game to entertain a group of kids. Teach them to play Living Statues. It’s a simple game that requires nothing and allows the children to use their imagination.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose one child who will be "It." Also choose how each child will get to be "It." This could be by age, choosing a random number, or what ever method you determine.

  2. Step 2

Know that the other children run around and the person who is "It" chases them. When the person who is "It" tags one of the other players, they must freeze exactly as they are when they were touched, becoming a statue.

  3. Step 3

Have everyone continue running around, with the person who is "It" tagging each player. This continues until everyone a frozen statue.

  4. Step 4

Have the person who is "It" go to each frozen statue and decide what they are from the way they are standing. It might be a train, a lumberjack, a cat, a tea pot; this is totally based upon how they looked to the person who is "It."

  5. Step 5

Have the person who is "It" tell each person what they are and tell them, “Go.” The player must now act out what they are. For instance, a cat could begin meowing or washing their face, while a tea pot could being pouring out tea. This continues until all the statues are now living. Play continues with a new person who is "It."
