How to Convince People That You Are Not Rich

Even if you are well off, being modest is a virtue. The purpose of this guide is to convince people you are not well off.

1. # Do not walk around with many valuables. At most, you should carry a cellphone, mp3 player, watch, and wallet. Excessive jewelery or accessory is a dead giveaway.
2. # Do not walk around in designer clothes either. Not only do they label you as "Rich", but they also make you a target in the eyes of a criminal. Average, everyday clothes will do.
3. # Carry as little cash as possible on you. Carry only what you need, and keep the rest in a bank account or at home. If you do want to carry cash on hand, keep at just enough to buy small quantities of food, and cab fare.
4. # Carry at most, one credit card. Otherwise, keep all credit cards at home, at all times. Not only will this help if you ever have to pull out your wallet, but protect yourself from impulse buys.
5. # Do not drive around, if you have an expensive car. Not only will this save you gas money, but prevent you from being seen with an "expensive" car. Once again, this will also make you a less likely target of thieves. Mass Transit (Bus, Carpool) is an advisable substitute.
6. # Don't flaunt that you have money, period. Telling someone that you have X amount of dollars will give it away.

• If you are discovered as being rich, be modest about it.
• Buy things that based on what you need, not what you want.
• Do not act as if you own a million dollars. Act as if you are just another human being.
• Convincing people you are not rich will take time.
• Acting "non-rich" can save you from being a victim of crime. However, do not expect this to be a major crime deterrent.
• Walking around "slums" to pretend you are dirt poor is not advisable.
• You must maintain consistency for this to work. Walking around acting like you are middle class, doesn't work if you pull out a golden watch and wallet every few minutes.
